Witchcraft : The Gathering or so // On the Flipside
On the flipside then, there would be new rules for what new cards are expected to bring to the table.
On the one hand we have MTG themed Witch Tarot decks that would/could go on to abstract existing cards
to fit with the rules ... which one step further ... is either a matter of custom prints or ... I'd
say ... limited editions. On the other we'd have Witchcraft themed Magic Cards, which should then come
with additional symbols. So ... all in all ... it's a mess.
Another thing then would be Witchcraft themed Sleeves, which, I don't know. Seems kind of cheap. I mean,
prints on transparent plastic ... maybe not. Metallic Foil Embossing on the other hand ... maybe, but
... finnicky I suppose.
Which is to say ... it's easy to mess up so the overall quality might still be ... iffy.
Then there's Witchcraft specific cards ... where, overall it'd probably be silly to assume it to be a
good idea to have X many variations of a specific card - for both, Symbols and Signs. But there would
be room for variations of the art based on certain slots; Which however ... I don't know. But where
that would go would also kind of depend on which direction our Economy takes.
Selling Booster Packs probably wouldn't be the way to go. If my vision holds - and hobby stuff would
run on a subscription basis, or some such thing, then there's the "missing out part" if You're not
actively invested but maybe still want something. But so, still ... rather than flooding the market with
trash, the best practice would follow the blueprint of secret lairs. But, cheaper.
Here cards can be designed and printed for a specific slot, being either the original as is or modified
to work both ways, however still in line with what the specific card would be in a Witch Tarot deck.
Witch is easier said than done. I mean, it's a kind of psychosis where You either build a play or an
oracle deck - so that it would overall be easier to ignore the Oracle aspect. So, for Soldier and Avatar
Cards You'd focus on the Symbol (Swords and Shields) and respectively have Avatar Cards be of a Symbol
(Witch through Succubus) rather than a Kind (Circle through Star) - while for Convergent Cards You kind
of can't ... . We'd rather have pure Oracle Cards and have their associations be solved another way. A
binder perhaps. Which ... opens yet another can of worms for me.
Dungeons and Dragons
I mean, there's how "Boomer Movies" would think of it - which is ... perhaps more in line with a broader
sense of sensitivities on the matter; Rather than when You're in too deep and there's a myriad of
combinations You want to try out.
So, on the one hand there's like "OC Syndrome" and on the other theres "Be Water my Friend" Syndrome.
And then, between the two, there's also the issue of PnP (Pen and Paper) as a Casual Gathering game, so,
more like a Boardgame; Or as a more long-winded campaign sort of thing.
The issue being ... it all kind of gets into the way of each other.
Ultimately, well. I mean, Videogames ... are a separate matter entirely.
Although ... well, that's a different story.
So, if we want to keep things 'Fun', a.k.a. 'social', we have to boil things down somehow. And if we so are
already starting with a magic binder ... [crchhhrk] - You arrive at a cliff that declines into a deep,
yawning, dark abyss.
But ... I mean ... I suppose the main problem with finding a level here is that different character types
with different schedules and responsibilities have different inclinations and subsequently passions and
urges that all ... don't work very well in this casual framework that I'm thinking of.
Or so, there's a general theme with WoTC games - which in simplest terms is 'long term investment'. This
way You can expand on the fantasy of the game; And everything You build from the presented rules is an
accomplishment; Which can however also be bypassed to some extent.
But so, I guess in a way what I'm doing here could be considered a "de-WoTCification of WoTC games".
And to unpack the Child in me, so I thought, I think of a Spellbook that I might ... take with me through
my life while modifying and expanding upon it as I go. Here I should expect that if I started out as a
noob, I'd start with a "recommended class" - which I might at some point want to discard for something else;
And that for specific reasons - simply because my understanding evolved; But just overall - including
history - I'd be a Fighter/Ranger/Sorcerer. Which is fine and there's so and so many ways to go about it,
OK OK, but ...
I mean, I have very specific ideas as to "what I want to be" - which is like ... wrinkles. I'm old and I
love nuance; Opposed to which I - at this stage of my life - don't want to re-invent myself all the time;
But I also don't want to indulge the 'long term investment' aspect here all that much.
On the other hand I also want to oppose the 'power fantasy' idea/issue/claim/accusation/insult/opinion/attitude,
which again left me "with no choice"(/the inspiration) to pull out my Oracle cards and see what they can
do for us here.
I mean, for once it'd be handy to have a Character ready that can be set to any Level and is ... basically
complete to the point where maybe the stats have to be (re-)rolled and equipment (and perhaps perk) issues
have to be resolved.
So I would on the one hand have a "Oracle Sheet" that would allow me to get certain things; And an Oracle
Sheet that would go with a set of cards for extra variability. So, there would either be a shared deck aspect
to it, which is basically what I'm proposing - or specific spell-cards, as a different venue for character
growth, that would have certain requirements as for validity. If all I do is print one to paper, then that's
a low tier spell. If I have an industrial custom print, that's a high tier spell ... depending on decorations.
How the table treats them ... would then be a matter of environment.
So, outside of Sub-Classes that means we get Card Perks. But uhm, at this point - I suppose I'll have to let
time do the rest.
