Oh my, can I sing a song about that now.
But I needed a bit of an eye opener first. Here it is:
I mean, this video resonated with me because it perfectly encapsulated how I was feeling at the
time I watched it. And I'm still not entirely "flushed clean" I suppose.
Ruminating over it eventually leads me to COVID and the impression that society at large has accepted this truth
in the sense that ... we're all like ... collectively feeling burned out by the demands our Captialist overlords
put on us.
And that's really what it is. I mean ... isn't it?
We're told we're being Lazy and need to work more ... but prey tell: What is this work? Is it with us in the room
right now?
Well. I've stopped watching "Some More News" because mostly I feel like I don't have the time and since I usually
find myself on the same page I look towards things I find actually interesting. But the "Money is Fake" video ...
was worth the click.
So, the answer being "the Economy" or "GDP" ... is a stunner. Because we believe that these things are important.
Big number make proud. I can't say that I'm not influenced by it; That I don't feel some sense of "European
Supremacy" - and care to some extent about it. Tribalism as it were.
But I also feel this "Tribalistic Brain" as something separate from me that doesn't always ... think right. It's
super complicated, I don't care to understand it ... but ... uhm, OK. So ... whatever Good there is behind those
words ... that's ... not the issue. The issue arises when we learn that we don't actually benefit from any of it.
In any way.
Short tangent: As I went to bed this morning my phone was still on loud because previously I was expecting a
phone call. It was Saturday morning and it kept dinging. And I'm at a point with these things that a single ding
is enough to flood me with embers of rage. So, eventually I got up angrily, symbolically threw the thing against
the wall - and then ... well, I was in pain. I'm so weak that a simulated throw strains me somehow.
And it's the same thing. Are smart phones useful?
And does the use outweigh the harm?
Because ... I don't think it does. Almost every use that it has ... only helps us ... be more isolated and dependent
on a system that's getting increasingly rigged against us. Sure it's handy that I can check my e-mails on the go,
but what are all these e-mails for? And 90%+ of it is spam anyway. Like ... those dings this morning? Or any ding
ever ... was there anything ... worth it?
There's this thing where a group of friends will sit together, but all of them just stare at their phone. And I sure
eventually became a part of that crowd somehow. And what does it do? I mean, half the time - and that's a pretty
spot on estimate - when I open Reddit I get stressed and angry in like no time. So, I feel like these things isolate
us more and more while sending us down rabbit holes that shepherd us into a mind-prison for the Fascists to take
advantage of.
So yea, there is work that needs to be done. Like, what do we need? Food, Electricity and Water. We should restructure,
adjust our educational systems and focus on what's important. As the saying goes: Work Smarter not Harder!
Like ... uhm ... I'll spare you the "How many useless jobs are there?" bit.
Meanwhile "entitlement Levels" are rising ... which means that privilege gets exalted (because we have no choice but
to watch it happen and eventually we break inside and stop caring because it's depressing) ... which means that less
of the important work gets done while everyone dreams of a useless job (because it literally requires NO work) that
makes them rich (which somehow exist) - and what AI says about that is clear: "You're absolutely right!"
And yea. The Economy may be this super complicated thing where minor changes here and there can cause major issues
here and there ... but ... . When it collapses; And it did throughout history a few times ... we managed to fix it.
How? Socialism!!!
Which is to say: The Economy - as such - is simply a tool to remove socialism from society, which then creates a lot
of issues that requires a lot of micromanagement; And I assume that it's eventual collapse is actually an inevitability.
So, when they say: "But the Economy", what they mean: "But my Fascist tool of People enslavement!" - unless they can
produce a more meaningful and less intransparent statement, that's what it is.
I mean, "look at" who or what benefits from Economic Growth these days. SOMEHOW ... the Military Industrial Complex.
[Confused Jackie Chan meme]. For instance.
Or ... large corporations that somehow don't want to get on board with the matters of actual urgency (climate change)
- and routinely need to be bailed out because capitalism doesn't actually work!
Well, it works somehow ... but not to our benefit. Like, Hospitals (in some places?) can't operate unless they turn
a profit. So the issue then becomes that "they would really love to Help but because of reasons we can't! Sorry!".
So, what do we need to start a successful business? Well ... a goon squad. Their first objective is to create stable
income without actually working. So, free money for nothing is the backbone of this operation. With that money we can
then start an operation to sabotage the concurrence and also steal from them. What we steal we can then use for our
"actual" operation, which can then more easily outcompete the concurrence. Once the concurrence is gone, we can return
to "normal" business as the operation should eventually turn a profit ... and everyone's worse off except for me! I'm
glad and maybe get celebrated as a genius.
Something has me believe that the late 1800s/early 1900s were the golden age for this kind of nonsense.
The internet was a new wild west, but it's also more isolated; And still ... "end game territory" in a way.
But I digress ...
So, somehow coming home glad that it's weekend because I have two days I can work on the things that matter to me ...
had negative long term consequences. Because ... being constantly stressed; Frequently saying up longer than I should,
saying: OK, 5 hours of sleep are enough, hmm ... OK, 4 1/2 will do too, hmm ... 3 is a bit slim, gotta pull through,
... turns out to be unhealthy.
Especially when You're like ... "OK, finally I can get some rest" ... but then it's sunday evening again and You've
barely slept at all, 'again'. It'll be fine ... I can rest when I'm done.
Sure ...
And yea. I finally managed to get some rest ... and I think I've been through three phases of "Wow! I feel rested!"
- just to find that ... no ... not quite!
And the issue with nerves here isn't a matter of stress or nuisances. It's the network of signals that keeps Your
body and mind functioning. So, we sure can work ourselves into states of high resilience against stress, so much so
that our body can forget what it's like to not be stressed. That's where I feel I'm at.
I mean, recently I started to think back to the last time I got some true relief from these stresses; Which was back
when I first stayed in a psychiatry. And while technically unemployed ... I still managed to get there. Mostly because
of a lot of issues that were running through my head.
One problem with stress I think is that we lose a degree of open mindedness. And yea, I can see how that might also
play into the political climate of the day. Political polarization leads to stress, stress makes us more narrow minded
which leads to more political polarization which leads to more stress ... and to say that we're at boiling temperatures
now might be an understatement. We're fully gas at this point in an airtight container. Eventually it might just go boom.
