A thoughtplay on political sides and opinions
First of all, I suppose others have said it before, there's two sides to this. There's
poliTICS and there's poliCY. Politics is about the people who are in power, who gets to
be in power and what principles carry this power. Policy is about what gets to be rule of
law.
The threat or true danger of a Tyranny is within the greed of its military. Their loyalty
to each other and their leader is in essence a function of the benefits their organization
yields through its activity. We could then say, that a Warlord becomes a Dictator, once this
organization also extends into the economic sector. And then perhaps of a Tyrant, once this
rule starts to extend beyond their entities boundaries.
And there we have it with politics at its core, that outside of what arguments go for which
policy, there are personal agendas intertwined with the yearning for power.
And as facts and figures effectively become a ball in some kind of political game, they are
not going to care about any of it unless it suits their need.
And if kind words don't work - what basis for diplomacy is there? And once you have to pull
out a gun to trigger a sense of repentance, what does that mean? Wouldn't we have to keep it
out until the repentance that is being acted out can be called sincere?
Well. It is hard not to see this as my fate. Makes me worry that I'm missing something ...
