"Faithless" - Part 5: Boom Chaka-Laka

So, there's this thing I wanted to explain - but now it's gone for some reason; And the actual topic I had on mind - doesn't really work for me right now, so ... I guess I'll just ramble for a bit until I figure something out.

I mean, my mind is basically like a bowl with a hole right now; And maybe the issue is that there's just too much stuff I meant to write about.

So, maybe let's start with a show called "How not to be a Stupid Bitch" - or uh ... well, a.k.a. "Raising Dion".

It may be tasteless right now that Writers are on Strike - and yea, it's not all bad, but ... sometimes ... . I mean, imagine that: Your 7 year old son starts to use telekinesis to float some toys around the room. So, I have to wonder, I have to ask: Which parent, in the entire world, would shout that something's wrong with him and drive him to a hospital?
This is like a prime example as to why I'm convinced, that these shows are deliberately written to make no sense at all. They probably have some mind-map farted out on some pinboard ... and think a lot about what the most stupid, insane, unreasonable decision or behavior or circumstance or what have you would be ... and run with that.

And sure - "A series of unfortunate events" is like ... the scarab that came crawling out of that hellhole.

On top of that however, the actress also looks like someone who would totally act that way. All of it - as, that example isn't the only instance of ... "uhm ... what is reality even?". And I'm sure there are ways to defend it, but they're nonsense! I mean, for once - I'm sure nobody asked for what a believable or relatable reaction would be. That, I think, is like the last thing on anyone's mind there. Or ... some people at least because ... yea, the show is only that bad - at occasion. And by "that bad" I mean ... cognitive dissonance as though someone tried to park a Jumbo Jet in my brain. I mean, I totally do have to take breaks sometimes!

Which however takes me on to the question: How can people take any of this? And as with much of how it is with the world as it is today ... the answer ... well ... might not be pleasant. But, to no longer beat around the bush, my thing here is this: People don't like to face reality. Because doing so probably depresses them. But so, the issue isn't to not sell yourself short - but if you have to, to understand why. For instance. Because ... if you you don't want to accept that you got a bad deal out of life - you'll live in a dreamworld and construct dreams accordingly; And then be surprised or something if things don't pan out. While, if you understood why you have to perhaps sell yourself short - you can channel your dreams accordingly and maybe even find some fertile soil to grow upon.

So, yea. I'd see these things in TV and get terribly upset. Maybe just a little at first, but eventually things pile up faster than I can handle. It's like ... sure, these stories need to be drawn out and convoluted to be entertaining or whatever - and informative. Like, to show people how stupid certain modes of behavior are, one has to really rub it in there - I suppose. What happens instead however, I think, to those that don't feel as I do, is that they get lulled into complacency thinking that this behavior is normal. Or OK even.

At least I happen to think so.

Right next to these are ... we all know them ... the "I don't care whether or not I'm infected by a deadly Virus I want to see my [family (member)] anyway and if the world has to burn for me to do so that's fine!" types. And yea, maybe that's relatable - now more than ever - as, we've gotten all a bit closer the past few years to the potential stoner paranoia of having your life been torn out of its hinges by such. In the same vein however I would hope that it is relatable to have like a burning hatred to like ... go ... full on Eldar on these types of people (Yas, Chaos Team Slaanesh here!) - or whatever your flavor were. Now, I want to exclude the Mother from Raising Dion from that list, but add the Biona Boss types to it. And here ... it's either Holy Ghost sponsored immersion or just good work on the writers behalf to make someone unsympathic from the first second based on nothing but vibes, gently turning them up as we go. I mean, sure, the fact that we're in some high tech research facility that's hinted at playing a role lateron might be a dead givaway of some sort ... but that's also like, how a story can be told by context. Like ... protagonists acting smart in face of a rather obvious abnormality ... . Though ... it's like in the Series of Unfortunate Events show ... where ... anyone but the Orphans recognizing Olaf is like ... waaaaaaaaahhw. Like ice cream on a hot summer day.
And sure - that show has actually legit good writing! (Though it sure looks like an A.I. generated Fever Dream!)
Though, you know, one can barely recommend it. So I guess I'm not entirely sane after all!

And yea, while I'm at it - DC, in my opinion, is like walking the line. I mean, one has to suspend some disbelief ... which is fine until the matter of wearing a costume and a few hours of training are apparently enough to become a kickass superhero. But then ... it's like ... that's what DC does. I mean, technically hardcore DC fans would have me believe, I'm sure, that Batman could beat Iron Man. Of course ... with Prep Time. I mean, saying "Prep Time" in context of Batman is like ... the ultimate joker card. It's like ... Batman turns into a Dark Souls Fuck You You Die Dungeon ... as something that's just a thing. Being the Dark Souls Fuck You Dungeon is Batman's Superpower. And his mental condition is like ... the Final Boss of that Dungeon.

So yea, being a Scientist in the DC Universe - must either be every Scientist's wet dream or worse Nightmare!

But so, once you can get behind that ... it's fine!

I mean, there's a show called "Locke and Key" - which brings up an interesting perspective at some point. So - a person gets to lock away their Fear - like, literally. It becomes humanoid - removed from their head and killed and buried or something like that. Don't question it - it makes sense. Then however, that person being fearless, starts to do stupid things - turning into one of those obnoxious annoying Characters. I found it still aggravating to watch - but at the same time ... I understood that that's pretty much the point.
And yea, maybe there is something wrong with me!

But maybe the truth is just that I react badly to ... Characters that expose a certain type of symptoms. Where, I have to wonder ... like ... what if. What if people could just ... not be the stupidest version around? I mean, them being stupid is often just another way of moving the plot forward - and as I'm somewhat agitated while that's happening I remember those more - and yet I can't help but think: What if ... not like this?

I mean ... maybe that's what TV used to be like and it worked fine while general threats got solved in one and major ones in two episodes. But now ever single threat has to be dragged out across an entire Season ... and ... it's like ... one of those things "my poor little brain has a hard time handling".

    Even Star Trek ...

I mean, I didn't watch Picard since the first episode threw me off. "Not my Star Trek" - but whatever. Later I learned what it got to be about ... and from my current perspective I'd describe it as yet another instance of ... this odd glorification of human flaws.

I did recently start watching 'Strange New Worlds' however - and somewhere around Episode 2 was ready to sing it praises. Certainly glancing past a few nitpicky concerns one might have if they really insisted on disliking the show. But then ... some cracks maybe ... nothing ... too concerning - certainly nothing I could defend with any confidence, though by the end of Episode 3 ... those concerns collapsed into a realization which I suppose is from now on going to severely taint my regards of the show.

I mean - for once, the protagonists aren't written to be Morons. It's ... Star Trek ... so, yea - I was under the impression that ... 'yay' ... it's Episodic and it's Star Trek and ... it's Modernized but still doesn't really bastardize the source Material (I don't know why we collectively decided to hate on Michael Bay, but ... well. It is as it is. I suppose it has something to do with Megan Fox ...) - so, for a moment it seemed to be the answer to my troubles here. And yea, it may have been the answer - but not how I thought.

I mean - as for a headline to my concerns thus far ... how about: "To justify human error". Though perhaps more like 'glorify' than 'justify' - and rather 'shitty behavior' than 'human error'. Or to so, blur the lines between. Maybe it's a bit of a 'new Generation' type of thing. Some distaste for structures of the past - though, if - in arts and philosophy, those have been on the right side ... yea ... cringe!
And that I assume is what some people think 'woke' stands for. Though, the show's 'woke' aspects - as I'd understand it, are actually quite good. Except maybe the: "There's something fishy about the Black Guy" part.

Anyhow - my issues by the end of Episode 3 aren't egregious enough to make me wanna write about it - per se. Yet, as I had written the initial parts of this, it rather were a disservice in my eye to not write about it.

Though maybe I should phrase it as a question. Though my gut feeling ... or whatever ... would have me just roll with it. Well ...

Well - so, maybe there's this thing with the younger folks, that they really don't like spotless example figures ... as that's pretty much what the older generation imposes itself as - certainly when speaking of them as though everything wrong with the world is their fault. And thus perhaps there's a certain urge to highlight, that human beings are flawed. And that ... generally ... there is no real separation into good folks versus bad folks - outside of the greater life decisions they make. And there you can do the whole pathos and sacrifice and ethics thing.
So - without understanding that ... I'd probably think of it as a conspiracy. And in doing so, would tend to judge those implied flaws too harshly. One could ascribe a certain zealotry or bigotry to that type of judgment - while some might go as far as to imply fascism, eugenics, authoritarianism, genocide and the likes, even if only in the abstract (though still with serious contempt).
And this would be how well-meaning individuals can clash around cultural rifts. When, so from my perspective, people are led astray as virtue and 'properness' get corroded by actors of villainy and self-service.

So is it hard to look around in this world - and not find villainy and self-service to be good, actually - in that it would seem that, to some at least, there is no other way to actually 'love thyself (as one required you to love thy neighbour)'.

And so I think it is best for me here to merely imply my point - as opposed to doubling or trippling down on it. And ... "let it cook" ... as they say.

Incluseveteh

Not to ... go down the whole ... Black Mermaid nonsense rabbit hole ... I yet find it odd to Watch Metatron's (the YouTuber) take on these things - and understand that there are people who take offense to that. And ... it makes me uneasy. Not because I worry about Metatron, but about the place where these dynamics would take us.

But then again ... it's a sensitive issue.
I mean - I hate to hate on Raising Dion, because ... I actually like it. And then there's that moment where Dion meets a racist teacher ... and it's all like ... yea ... going there. And seeing it, I know how glad I can be that I didn't have to face such things - ever. I mean, I suppose as a German it is normal to face some casual German racism - like, most Germans I'd argue have some internalized Bavariaphobia - and sure, some might think that it's envy ... but it's more like ... people who think that it's envy. And yea, like that it goes. I have a friend from Bavaria and recently we had a bit of a ... back and forth on where now the Hofbräuhaus is. And I didn't know - really - that there's more than two Hofbräu's in Germany - actually. And now we can shit at each other for which the better one is - until we try to make peace and settle with Cologne as having the shittiest beer.
Not that I could distinguish beer from here or there - unless it's really that bad.

Maybe there are stereotypes here and there that do prove to be true on and off - and then we can go argue over which one's are the best and ... nobody likes it because us Swabians certainly take that one!
Which is why people can also call us the cradle of Civilization.

I mean, to one another we're all ... some kind of slur. Rice eater, Caraway Turk, Potato, Ice-Crawler, Fishhead, Cheesehead, "Ittakker", "Kanakke" - whatever. I mean, demeaning humor can be, just as self aggrandizing humor, be a symptom of stable brotherhood/siblingdom - so, we shit talk.

But ... that's ... neither here nor there. But, it led me to an interesting find. I mean, I thought to argue, that ... thinking of whether to take it seriously or not ... one might think of the context. If it's important, one is to probably take it seriously. If not, then not. And I see that a lot of "I was just joking" nonsense and such - seems to follow the inverse thereof. ... "food for thought".

So, much as with the previous point - there are certain sensitivities that we might call niche or fringe. And yet to these I say that we can't respect them as much as some would like to. Because ... if you're allergic to white people, let's say, that's just racism. Maybe for the time being you're like on the right~ish side of history with that, while I also certainly don't sympathize with "the hegemony of white bigotry" or how to call it - but leaning into it were overall a step backward. In a bad way.

So, well - to be a bit harsh, as in: If I didn't have to watch my words around black folks - I'd say that a vast majority of black folks is "Slave Brained". And I think I can back that up comprehensively. So, if you grow up internalizing a worldview where you are "the Slave people" and the white folks are "the Oppressor" - that just settles it. With that on mind then, you would require/expect/read white people to behave in accordance with that oppressor role - at which point they're either perpetrators - or perhaps not atoning enough for what they have done.
Amongst black folks we therefore see a "thug life" brotherhood of sorts - which are "the fellow slaves"; Which are free to some extent but still systemically held down - which so created this "thug life" culture as we know. (I'm listening to a lot of Tupac). And in the dynamics that unfold I suppose, coming from an esoteric/emotional angle, that unless a white man literally takes the knee to offer [you] their head - delivered at [your] mercy - it wouldn't be perceived as enough.
This so follows a dream of "black liberation" - perhaps much inspired by white stories of bravery and conquest and redemption.

And yea, some ideas of what 'racism' means - when asking black folk - speak volumes to that.

So is there that song: 'Man in the Mirror'. In this context, I'd argue that people would read it as 'bad' because it asks you to work on yourself - rather than speaking of vengeance and redemption-by-retribution. Like, I get it when people feel like we have to take the mighty into account also - like, when it comes to climate change and vegetarianism I do heavily lean that way too.
And so when I listen to DMX for instance - and think of what I know about his real life - some songs seem to speak to a certain pain that comes with a certain powerlessness in regards to the ways of the world, as it were.

I'm sure there is enough space to get lost in - so, it occurs to me every now and then that I find myself asked about my take on matters of inclusivity. As per inclusive language and all those ... legit aspects of "wokescolding". And I get tripped over by how black and white it seems to be in those moments; Usually wondering over ... how come, even, that we'd have to talk about it.

Or, that it had to be an issue.

I mean, by these issues I've highlighted here so far, I think I'm able to speak of a certain corruption that does for the most part muddy the waters, sowing chaos - and perhaps making mountains out of molehills. Being stubborn or afflicted by the wrong kind of pride. Insisting on a certain type of justice perhaps. Maybe so much, that even where it reads: "Don't Judge" and "the Lord is the Revenge of the Righteous" might yet leave them convinced that their idea of justice is the only way.
And - yea, these issues are probably all valid - if we only look at the two extremes. I mean, if using certain words were like a dogwhistle - sure. But ... if that were valid regardless of context, a black man using the N-word would also just be using a racist dogwhistle. So are there plenty of people that have enough human decency to respect other people's issues and boundaries - and yet for some reason some people seem to obsess over these micro-aggressions so much, they can't bear ... to look at that and be at ease; And would much rather paint everything black so they can further immerse themselves in their crusade.

And yet, however often I might attempt to address this ... 'schism' ... I never felt like I accomplished anything. Other than maybe consolidating either side of it in their ideas.

Then maybe people be wondering: Why is there only one black dude on that list? Why is there no women? Where the tranny's at?
Though if I mentioned anyone - any one - anywhere - there's a crew of folks at the ready to tell everyone how bad they are actually. I like to think that it's not mine to judge - and am thereby not deeply enough entrenched in this or that culture to do anything but tokenism when it comes to that. So I just stick to what I find compelling regardless of any of that nonsense.
And if most of what comes around are white men - then that's ... just how it is.

And yea, bickering other people into submission isn't the way to the top. Not in my book at least!

Anyway ... I think I'll leave it at that!
